Convocation

We are from NJ and our son will be a Freshman this year.  He's planning to attend the August FASET that is just before school starts.  According to the information he will move in on Tuesday and FASET is Wednesday and Thursday.  Does anybody know what the students do on Friday and Saturday?  We are trying to figure out if we should stay until Sunday for Convocation or come home on Friday after FASET is over.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks.

We are also coming down from VA for FASET 5 and we are planning to stay until Monday so that we can attend Convocation on Sunday.  Here is my thought process on staying:

Although my daughter will be moving into her dorm on Tuesday prior to the start of FASET on Wednesday - this will only be a "quick" drop-off: empty the car with the things we are bringing so that we are not carting them around Atlanta for days.  Since Wed & Thur are full days for the students and since Friday is the move-in day for students not attending FASET 5 - I figure that Friday will be the "get settled" day.  A day to get things for the room that we are not going to buy until we get to Atlanta.  Friday is also the first day of R.A.T.S. Week.  Saturday will be a visit Atlanta day for my family.  I will make it optional with my daughter as she may prefer to hang around on campus getting to know people, but for my wife and other 2 kids we will enjoy Atlanta (may go out to Stone Mountain, may spend it downtown, etc - depends on weather, etc).  My family will be attending the reception on Sunday afternoon prior to Convocation and the end of Convocation will be "Goodbye".  We will spend a last night in Atlanta so that we can travel back on Monday.

We are also from New Jersey and my son will be attending in the fall as well. Any thoughts on getting his things to the school. We are not planning on driving and were wondering if we should ship everything or purchase what he needs when we arrive for Faset in August. Thanks.
